Biography

There are not very many attorneys in the Minnesota legal community with the experience and common sense approach Dan utilizes in his practice. Dan has spent more than thirty years practicing law in the fields of real estate, banking, and general business matters. His practice also includes the negotiation, documentation and closing of complex financing, acquisition, development, leasing and sales transactions.

However, what Dan really loves is enabling directors of homeowner associations (common interest communities) to function properly and efficiently. He has worked in the area of homeowner association law and common interest community law (condominiums, townhomes and cooperatives) throughout his practice and developed a real niche in this area. Dan teaches and mentors homeowner association leadership. He spends much of every day reading, interpreting and writing homeowner association governing documents like articles of incorporation, declarations, bylaws, and rules and offering legal opinions to board members. His office has a fine tuned homeowner association assessment collection staff who understand that every dollar spent on collections is a dollar that is not available for other needs. Whether assisting a condominium board or perhaps a senior cooperative, Dan believes that he has handled most every kind of issue in his focused practice since 1982. He has probably already solved a problem just like yours.

Dan also is a frequent speaker at homeowner association law seminars. He enjoys offering seminars or board trainings for volunteer homeowner associations and knows how to focus on the issues that matter. He has taught too many different classes pertaining to Minnesota homeowner association law to mention, but he has the unique ability to explain complicated legal issues in a way that everyone can understand. He is often a guest speaker at Minnesota common interest community and cooperative industry functions, where he consistently gets excellent reviews.

Dan loves to sail, golf and ride his Harley during the summer months.  He has been known to show up to homeowner association annual meetings on his Harley.
